Dropped Hose Blamed for Crashes, Damage on FL Turnpike

Nov. 29, 2023
About 1,200 feet of hose fell off a Lake County Fire Rescue vehicle.

Dropped fire hose led to crashes and damaged nearly a dozen vehicles on the Florida Turnpike.

Approximately 1,200 feet of hose fell off a Lake County Fire Rescue Truck Sunday night, WKMG reported.

Multiple vehicles ran over the hose with couplings, causing damage and flat tires. Troopers also responded to two separate crashes caused by the line.

A Lake County fire department spokesperson said in a statement: “We’re still in the preliminary stages of our internal investigation. Our understanding is that the hose somehow detached from the fire truck during travel. Because we’re still in the beginning stages of the process, it’s still too early to tell what action is needed moving forward.”
